Sports & Education Camps – Partnering with Pro Athletes
Helping Hands for Freedom partners with professional athletes, college athletes, and local high school coaches to serve as instructors to bring military children ages 7 to 18 together to learn about sports, fitness, lifestyle, and nutrition. Mentors, educators, and professional speakers will also be on hand to help participants with unique and key issues facing our youth. Athletic drills, sporting techniques, challenging activities, and educational topics will also be featured throughout each program. Examples of sporting activities will include football, soccer, yoga classes, baseball instruction, golf instruction, general exercise sessions, dance, and a host of other activities based on community volunteer participation.
Helping Hands for Freedom gives children an inside look at what goes into making a military service member during its annual boot camp for children. We do boot camp because these children want to talk to their parents and be like them and see what they went through. When a parent doesn’t make it home, they don’t get that opportunity, so we throw a mini boot camp, allowing children to walk in their parents’ shoes. Children often inherit weapons and we don’t want them to have an accident. We can educate them on gun safety so they will be prepared when old enough.
