Helping Hands for Freedom honored Arizona Gold Star families with our Gold Star Mother and Host, Annette Hill, for our Annual Survivor’s Barbeque. Annette graciously opened her beautiful Phoenix home to 100 guests to celebrate the lives of those Service Members we have lost during times of combat.
A large tree was used for family members to attach pictures and heartfelt wishes in remembrance of their Service Members. Adults and children enjoyed a delicious dinner provided by Dillon’s Barbeque, swimming under a warm Arizona moonlit night, gathering together to learn to drum from Frank Thompson of AZ Rhythm Connection and meeting miniature horses dressed in their finest military gear.
The evening ended with 100 Gold Star balloons, words of praise and moments of silence, as families released them into the night sky with thoughts of their loved ones.
Great appreciation to Joey Ogburn, Founder of Mini Angel Eyes Horses, and her teams, Cheryl and Xia as well as Paola and Gus, for bringing many smiles to our guests.
